When you first launch the game, you'll be asked to input your name, gender, and you'll be introduced to the world of Pokemon! All of this is on rails and pretty self-explanatory so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Vesta ValleyYou awake in your house. When you're here, you can explore, but you'll notice that your Mom is not home! Instead, there is a gift box telling you "Happy Birthday" along with running shoes and to meet her at the lab. Surprise! Your mom is the professor of the region!
Immediately after you choose your starter, your friends will challenge you to a Pokemon Battle in the lab. Your friend Priya goes first, and she will bring out the Pokemon Estreya. Aside from her critical hits, her fight shouldn't take long and you'll gain a level once you beat her.
After you win against Priya, she heals your Pokemon because Danny wants to fight next. Danny brings out a Pikachu, but his Pikachu only has normal-type moves and an electric-type status move, so if you chose the water starter, you won't be in trouble.
After Danny's battle, Danny and Priya talk about exploring the region. Danny talks about how he's going to start the Pokemon League challenge and fight the Elite Four and Priya talks about befriending as many Pokemon as possible. Professor Maple tells you that you should do both and that no matter what you do she'll be happy you're out in the world. She hugs you goodbye and gives you a Rotomphone and the Pokedex and tells you to call her every once in a while. Before leaving the lab, talk to the professor's assistant Clarita. She'll tell you how her grandfather used to be the professor of the lab before he passed and your mother inherited the lab. Afterwards, she gives you five Pokeballs to start your journey, and wishes you luck. In Vesta Valley, there are seven total buildings:
