Back to Main

Part 2 >

Welcome

Welcome to the start of your journey! When you first launch the game, you'll be asked to input your name, gender, and you'll be introduced to the world of Pokemon! All of this is on rails and pretty self-explanatory so it shouldn't come as a surprise.

Vesta Valley

You awake in your house. When you're here, you can explore, but you'll notice that your Mom is not home! Instead, there is a gift box telling you "Happy Birthday" along with running shoes and to meet her at the lab. Surprise! Your mom is the professor of the region!

Before you leave your house, don't forget to access your PC and withdraw the potion in your inventory.

Make your way south to the Pokemon Laboratory, and enter the building. Once inside, Professor Maple (re: Mom) and your friends Danny and Priya will greet you.

Once they're done with their Birthday greetings and formalities, you'll have the option between three starter pokemon:

Immediately after you choose your starter, your friends will challenge you to a Pokemon Battle in the lab. Your friend Priya goes first, and she will bring out the Pokemon Estreya. Aside from her critical hits, her fight shouldn't take long and you'll gain a level once you beat her.

After you win against Priya, she heals your Pokemon because Danny wants to fight next. Danny brings out a Pikachu, but his Pikachu only has normal-type moves and an electric-type status move, so if you chose the water starter, you won't be in trouble.

After Danny's battle, Danny and Priya talk about exploring the region. Danny talks about how he's going to start the Pokemon League challenge and fight the Elite Four and Priya talks about befriending as many Pokemon as possible. Professor Maple tells you that you should do both and that no matter what you do she'll be happy you're out in the world. She hugs you goodbye and gives you a Rotomphone and the Pokedex and tells you to call her every once in a while.

Before leaving the lab, talk to the professor's assistant Clarita. She'll tell you how her grandfather used to be the professor of the lab before he passed and your mother inherited the lab. Afterwards, she gives you five Pokeballs to start your journey, and wishes you luck.

In Vesta Valley, there are seven total buildings:
  • Your House - You can return here to heal your party by going to bed.
    • In the evenings, your Mom will be here and you can say Hi. Every day you visit her, she will give you a free potion. When you have at least two badges, this changes to a free Super potion. When you have at least four badges, this changes to a free Hyper potion. When you have at least seven badges, this changes to a free Max potion.
  • Danny's House - You can say hi to Danny's dad here.
  • Priya's House - You can say hi to Priya's grandmother here.
  • Clarita's House - Clarita lives alone, and the door to this house is usually locked. In the evening, Clarita will be here instead
  • The Professor's Lab - Where you got your first Pokemon and had your first battle. Your Mom and Clarita will be working here during the day. If you talk to your Mom, she will check your Pokedex to see how many Pokemon you've caught and give you tips on where to go next.
  • The PokeMart - You can buy goods here for your journey. Stock up while you can!
  • The PokeCenter - You can get your Pokemon healed here. If you lose a battle, you'll appear at the last PokeCenter you visited.
